HERITAGE HOUSE SCHOOL

SCHOOL CLOSES ON FRIDAY, 1ST JUNE AT THE USUAL TIME FOR THE HALF-TERM HOLIDAY

Autism and learning difficulties

We are highly successful in working with autistic students that have associated learning difficulties.  We are  a specialist school within Buckinghamshire, using an individualised approach within a specifically designed department.  Approaches used include:

  • the TEACCH approach (see the link below)
  • use of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
  • Sensory Integration therapy
  • Speech and Language therapy
  • Music therapy
  • Dietary programmes.

Many pupils also have behaviour support programmes to assist them to manage their own behaviour in an appropriate way.  All teaching staff have been trained to an appropriate level using Team Teach techniques.

Very strong links are maintained between school and the home to ensure a consistent approach and to address any issues that may arise as students progress.
