Keeping Children Healthy in Pools

Keeping swimming healthy

Remember : Children should not swim for 14 days after an episode of vomiting and diarrhoea

Here's why. Take a look at this short video

Three Steps for Parents

1.   Take your children on toilet breaks or check nappies often

2.   Change nappies in a nappy-changing area where there is no chance that germs from a nappy can spread in and around the pool

3.   Wash your child thoroughly with soap and water before swimming

Three Steps for all Swimmers

1.   Don't swim when you have diarrhoea - germs can be spread and other people can become ill

2.   Don't swallow the pool water

3.   Practice good hygiene and shower with soap before swimming.  Wash hands with warm water and liquid soap - especially after using the toilet and after changing nappies
