Sensory Integration Therapy
We receive advice and direct intervention from Occupational Therapists to help support children with sensory processing difficulties.
Referred children receive a Sensory Integration assessment involving gathering information from parents / carers and teaching staff, observation and 1:1 sessions. Following this, activity programmes, specific advice and practical strategies can be offered for staff to follow throughout the school day.
Training is also offered to staff to enable them to better understand a child’s needs from a sensory perspective. In turn, this enables them to be able to offer a more appropriate environment, informed choices and help the child cope better in their world. It aims to increase staff understanding of a child’s behaviour and anxieties and to better manage sensory and motor related issues.
