Taiko Drumming

As a result of our links to Japan, our students are able to enjoy the Japanese art of Taiko drumming. 

Taiko is an adaptation of traditional Japanese drumming, allowing pupils to experience the benefits of working as a group, of rhythmic interaction, and of elements of a different culture.  Students from the school have visited Japan to perform Taiko at our sister school, Kuretake, in Kyoto.  They have also visited the workshop of a famous Taiko master, Kuramaya sensei, to gain further learning that can then be brought back to Heritage House, and shared with other schools.  

The school "I Kando" taiko team frequently perform at events and festivals.
