What We Do

Governing Body Functions

Governing Bodies have three core functions :

  • Ensuring clarity of ethos, vision and strategic direction

  • Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of its staff

  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

Standing Orders for the Procedures of the Heritage House School Interim Executive Board

Duration

1. The Interim Executive Board (IEB) will be in existence for the period that the school’s governance remains of concern to the LA and to oversee the possible transfer to a new Governing Body

Arrangements and an anticipated timeframe for the establishment of a new Governing Body and the transition to normal governance arrangements will be specified in a further Notice issued by the LA

2. The School Governance (Constitution) (England) Regulations 2003 and 2012, the School Governance (Procedures) (England) Regulations 2003, and the Education (Governors’ Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003 do not apply in relation to IEBs. Furthermore, the instrument of government of the school does not have effect in relation to the IEB

3. All IEB members and the Headteacher, unless the Headteacher is being discussed, and members of the shadow Governing Body, once established, may attend meetings of the IEB and its committees, although non IEB members will not have voting rights. Other individuals and observers, including other representatives of the LA, may only attend with agreement of the IEB.
