Supporting transitions

Many of our learners need support while transitioning around the school to the dining hall, swimming pool etc., as it can become very stressful and overwhelming. We provide support in a number of different ways – following the learners cue as to what they respond best to. Support can include:

  • Social stories
  • Minimising noise
  • Building a relationship
  • Setting realistic expectations
  • Using visuals
  • Making it predictable
